Dr. LaBrita Cash- Baskett is President of Fundamental Focus, a company that provides related and business communication services to the education and business community; and collaborates in a multidisciplinary clinic serving children with special needs. Enabling others to harness the power of communication to achieve quality of life is one of her highest goals. Cash-Baskett has lived and served in Georgia throughout her life. She is a major contributor to our community and her profession including former President of the Georgia Speech-Language Hearing Association 2016, Council of State Association Presidents newsletter editor, former vice Chair of the Georgia Chattahoochee Chapter of Proposal Management Professionals and former Chairwoman of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce’s Cobb Executive Women. She serves as a clinical practicum supervisor and on the advisory council for the University of West Georgia’s Communication Disorders program and will serve on the advisory council for Hampton University in 2020. Over the years, Cash-Baskett was responsible for developing strategic relationships, professional advocacy and signature programs in work-force development, women’s leadership, professional issues and professional development programs and initiatives. She oversaw investment in state and professional association dollars through revenue generation, membership development and strategic planning.
During her 18-year career, she has leveraged her human communication disorders training in organizational development. She has presented on speech-language pathology topics at national and local conventions including literacy, corporate speech pathology and the SLP Role in Transitioning students with ASD and served on the Business Practice Management 2019 Topics Committee for the American Speech- Language Hearing Association. She has lectured, presented and trained on interpersonal, executive and business communication topics in higher education and industry. Cash-Baskett currently lectures at Kennesaw State University and is a performance consultant for Emory University Continuing Education corporate learning and open enrollment. LaBrita Cash-Baskett is an authorized partner and certified facilitator for DiSC assessment and Myers Briggs Assessment, Hanen and holds an Association of Proposal Management Professionals foundation level certification for proposal management.
Her vision and leadership have propelled people and organizations forward. She was selected as a 2012 Girls Inc. Strong Smart and Bold Honoree in the Bold category, Points North Savvy and Successful 2013 honoree, 2014 Leadership Cobb Class and 2015 Honorary Commanders Association. She was selected as an Honoree for the 2017 liveSAFE Resources (formerly the YWCA) Tribute to Women of Achievement. She received the Georgia Speech-Language Association’s Volunteer Appreciation Award in 2016 and the Robert Hull Leadership award in 2019.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree (HU’ 1999) and Masters of Arts degree from Hampton University (HU’ 2001). She later received her doctorate in Organizational Leadership in 2011 from Argosy University in Sarasota. She is dedicated to learning, mentoring and civic leadership. She enjoys living in North Georgia with her husband Ken and seven year old daughter McKenna.
